Last fall, during a vision therapy session with Dr. Nate, he suggested I go to the theaters and watch a brightly colored 3D movie to see if I could now experience 3D film. I was in luck—Trolls was in theaters.
After getting over the fact that I was the only person in the theater over the age of ten without their parents, I sat back and enjoyed the film. I did not notice anything 3D in the theater, but as I joined the line to exit the dimly lit theater, I noticed the child’s head in front of me looked like a bobbing bowling ball. I thought that was strange but then looked up and noticed his father had the same thing. As we then entered the lobby, I realized everything was 3D!
I walked out to the parking lot and weaved through the cars as I made my way over to Target. I decided I better walk around the store a bit more and let the 3D fade out before I try to drive home. I spent the next couple of hours in the spirit of an Indy car driver, pushing my cart through the aisles, admiring my accuracy and the products in 3D.
After this experience, I wanted to continue to replicate it. I went to the theater to see Trolls in 3D five more times. I quickly began to realize this is expensive; so I came up with this alternative: I purchased a 3D projector and glasses on Amazon and installed shelves in my living room. It works really well, and in the comfort of my home, I can rewind and watch the parts that are 3D.
I am very excited for this technology and am going to develop some additional animations and exercises to display through the projector. I think red/green games and other activities can now be displayed giant-sized on my living room wall. I will post them as I find time to make them!
