Betsy Yaros head shot

From dragons to grackles, I like to bring an author’s writing to life and make reading fun for kids. When illustrating, I build intricate figures, props and sets that are then photographed in studio lighting to give them depth. A variety of paper and media is used to give the images vibrant colors and textures. At the end of the image-making process, the main question I ask myself is “Would I show this to my nieces?” If the answer is no, then it’s redone until the answer is “Hey, Evelyn and Mary, check this out!”
